Bob Williamson, ISTMA World President, has been awarded the prestigious Tool Construction and Mould Making Honorary Medal at this year's Moulding Expo. Presented annually since the inception of the Moulding Expo, the medal honours trailblazers whose innovative spirit and commitment have significantly shaped the industry.
As President of ISTMA World, Bob Williamson has played a pivotal role in uniting the global tooling community. Under his leadership, ISTMA has become a central voice for the industry—engaging not only with national associations but also with international policy bodies.
Renowned for his hands-on involvement and unwavering dedication, Bob Williamson is respected worldwide for his efforts to amplify the industry's voice and visibility. His leadership has elevated the profile of a sector fundamental to manufacturing and industrial innovation.
"I believe our industry is the glue that holds together the entire metalworking value chain," said ISTMA President upon receiving the medal. "Too often, our contributions go unnoticed, but I've always felt it's my responsibility to change that. Without us, the threat of deindustrialisation becomes very real. I'm deeply honoured by this award and remain committed to advancing our industry wherever I can."
Richard Pergler, who oversees the award, emphasised that the medal is not merely a recognition of past achievements. "This award isn't a lifetime achievement trophy—it's a statement of confidence in those who continue to inspire and lead," Pergler noted. "Winners like Bob are role models, especially for young professionals entering the field, showing what's possible through dedication and vision".
The Tool Construction and Mould Making Honorary Medal is awarded by an independent jury that includes representatives from the Association of German Tool and Mouldmakers (VDWF), the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), and the WBA Tooling Academy. The 2025 medal was designed and produced by the WBA Tooling Academy.
