SOUTH AFRICA HOSTS MEETING OF ISTMA EUROPE

Sandton Convention Centre (Johannesburg) was the site of a late-June meeting of the European section of the International Special Tooling & Machining Association, or ISTMA Europe. Representatives of member associations and companies from Italy, South Africa, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Spain, Finland and Turkey who attended the meeting analyzed recent ISTMA Europe activities under the Presidency of Fausto Romagnani.

Held on June 29th, the first ISTMA meeting organized on an African country, was arranged by the Tooling Association of South Africa (TASA) with the support of Gauteng Provincial Government. A packed meeting agenda also included ISTMA World Annual General Assembly and site visits to Ford and Lapple companies based in Rosslyn (Pretoria).

In addition, delegates found time for networking and for exchanging information about the manufacturing situation in various European, American and Asian states and regions.

During the meeting Fausto Romagnani presented ISTMA Europe ongoing strategy and activities to strengthen the image the moulds and special tools industry presents to official national and international organizations, especially the European Commission.

The South African meeting provided an occasion for analyzing current business conditions and economic situation worldwide and to identify challenges and opportunities confronting companies in our days.
